Grassington House
Grassington House is an established family run Care Home. We provide personalised care tailored to the needs of our residents. We provide a relaxed social setting, with daily activities, a choice of home cooked meals and refreshments throughout the day.
Each week we visit our beautiful County market town, whether it be shopping, perusing the local market, going for a coffee or even a swift half! We want our residents to truly feel part of the local community.
We are registered to provide residential care to 13 residents. Our excellent level of care is tailored specifically to the needs of every individual. Residents are treated like members of the family.
We work with our residents to plan appropriate care packages to maintain the highest level of independence, choice and control. Our person-centred approach encourages confidence, positive self-esteem, respect and dignity.
Our Location
Our location is in a central, yet residential, area of the historic county town of Dorchester.
The home is conveniently situated within a short and level walk to the pedestrianised shopping area, cinemas, restaurants, and local gardens. Grassington House also has its own minibus for trips to local places of interest.

Our Activities
At Grassington House we are proud of the interesting, person centred and varied activities provision we provide for our residents.
Due to the small size of the home we really feel we can accommodate bespoke activities such as boat trips, cycle ability, wine and cheese tasting events, movie evenings and not forgetting a good old quiz to get the brain working.
We are also lucky enough to own our minibus for trips around the countryside or local places of interest chosen by our residents. We regularly actively seek advice and guidance from residents to offer something for everyone to enjoy.
Our accommodation
Step foot inside our residential care home and you will see that we care for much more than people’s needs. We care about creating a home for our residents to enjoy. We have a variety of shared social areas, all of which are wheelchair accessible.
Our beautiful country garden blooms with flowers throughout the Spring and Summer.
Residents can relax in our homely lounge or in the light and bright conservatory. We offer 13 beautifully refurbished bedrooms with either en-suite WCs or easily accessible WC facilities. Handrails have been added in the corridors to aid independent living and there is also equipment available when needed such as hoists, wheelchairs, walking aids and a passenger lift to the first floor and stair lift to the second floor.
Our meals
The kitchen is at the heart of any good home and Grassington House is no exception. We are proud of our home cooked meals and puddings.
Breakfast is served at a time to suit each individual resident. Mid-morning teas and coffees are accompanied by biscuits.
For lunch there are two choices of home cooked meals using fresh produce every day, followed by one of our famous puddings.
Afternoon tea and cake is served around 3pm, tea at 5pm and supper at 7.30pm. Drinks and snacks are always on offer and we even cater for those that are partial to a midnight snack!

Our small and friendly team of care staff are more like our extended family at Grassington House. We and the Residents here really get to know the staff. Our staff are trained regularly to ensure they have the knowledge, skills and information to work with residents and visitors alike.
My stepmother has been a resident of Grassington House for almost 18 months and we are delighted with the high standard of care and friendliness of the staff. A lovely place and we are all very happy with it.
Grassington House is a wonderful example of how a care-home can provide a well organised and professional service within a family atmosphere. The staff really care about the health and comfort of their residents and work very hard to ensure a stimulating programme. Continually engaging with people in their twilight years, is a very challenging and exhausting process but the staff at Grassington House manage to do it with tremendous good humour.
We are very pleased with the care and attention my stepmother is receiving at Grassington House. The atmosphere there and friendliness of the staff is simply the best. Knowing she is happy and content and well looked after, gives the whole family peace of mind. Thank you all so much.
Warm, friendly, approachable staff. Accommodating and responsive, particularly for a resident whose needs are a little outside the 'norm'. The staff always have time to discuss concerns and genuinely care for the residents. A relaxed friendly atmosphere, that is not clinical or institutionalized.
